Finally...

Finally....I was brave enough to cut into this adorable, thrift store salvaged, reduce, reuse, recycle Peanuts curtains that Tracey gave to me for Christmas this year. I have been planning a skirt modeled on my favorite Rainbow Bright skirt that I bought with Tracey in Camden Market in London, but I was just so worried about this fabric...I usually don't fear cutting into fabric, but I think that is because I know I can always get some more if I need it, but not this!

This is pure vintage. One of a kind. I mean, the 1970s tag from Sears was still in the seam.

i heart shrinky dinks

My lovely mama gave me a little shrinky dink kit for Valentine's Day. It came with all kinds of patterns and ideas, but I just kept thinking about when I was little and my amazing and wonderful Aunt Sandy and I used to make shrinky dinks together. For whatever reason, this is one of those memories that sticks in my mind and I think about it all the time. When we used to make them together she would always find these great Disney characters or other things she knew I loved to trace. So, today, I was thinking about what I would like to make and of course I thought of my favorite Peanuts characters. I decided to start with Charlie Brown...just to test it out...and now I love him so much, I just may make the whole gang!

11 on the 11th, remixed.

Since I spaced it yesterday AND today, I've decided that I will write 11 things about me instead. I am aware that everyone just did this on Facebook, but I don't really care:)


1. I hate it when people say "I could care less." I think what you mean is "I couldn't care less."

2. I have a new obsession with Beyonce. I'm not really sure where it came from, but I love it.

3. Stephanie, (hopefully Michelle,) and I are starting lists. Lists of our favorite things, lists of all the important firsts, etc. I'm really excited and started on my first list during class tonight.

4. I LOVE making lists. Sometimes when I am feeling stressed out or bored, I make a list and it makes me feel much better. It can be a grocery list, a to do list, or even my top ten dreamboats over and over again.

5. We talked about getting a Newfoundland about a year and a half before we got Keeley. During that time whenever we talked about our imaginary dog, we called her Keeley.

6. While I was trying to figure out what ten cds I would take with me if I was stranded on an island today, I couldn't remember any of the names of the Reel Big Fish albums. It was really weird.

7. Central Oregon stresses me out.

8. I love sending messages, not IMing, back and forth on facebook.

9. Lately I have been really concerned with my wardrobe. I feel like I look like a homeless man, not even a homeless woman! So, I have been slowly collecting cheap (on sale or thriftstore) nice clothing to help me feel like an adult.

10. Ever since I've moved to Moscow and no longer have my mom or Stephanie to cook for me, I've really started to enjoy cooking for myself. And Ryan.

11. I'm going to try as hard as I possibly can to remember 10 on the 10th next month!

Waited in the waiting room for a little bit for my post-op appointment. Found out I am healing very well.

Arrived at work on a very snowy day. I thought I worked at a place that canceled work at the sight of snow! Really it wasn't sticking to the roads at all but it did snow a lot.

Today we finally got our sweet new puppy. Her name is Daisy and she is so very wonderful.

Stephanie has pestered me to put my 10 on the 9th up. I didn't quite get around to doing the 10 on the 10th due to surprise guests. So, I am putting up the one I did on Friday. Next month I promise to actually do it on the 10th!

My day wasn't all that exciting, I was at work. But here it goes:

I woke up at 9 to let Keeley outside.

10am

I get up to eat some breakfast and leave Ryan and Keeley sleeping.

11am

I get back in bed to read Emma for a little bit.

Time to get ready for work.

Abbie is sleeping soundly.

I chat with Michelle on Facebook while Abbie naps.

Abbie and I read some books.

I am more than ready to go home.

I meet Brian to get my paycheck and head home.

Ryan and I finish dinner with friends and walk home.

Stephanie's 10 on the 10th of January

As Tracey already said, we were very impressed with Heather's 10 on the 10th last month and Tracey reminded me a couple of days ago that the tenth was coming up. So, this is my very first 10 on the 10th and I am so excited. It has been fun capturing all of my lazy Saturday images.

I started the day at my mama's house. At ten, I finally get around to making some delicious crepes with strawberries that we picked last summer. yumm. They were a very nice way to start the morning.

Mom needed to get some coffee beans, so we headed to Starbucks for some morning coffee and to stock up mom's supply.

Still at my mama's house so that Johnpaul can be getting some sleep at our's, I decide to check out some of my favorite blogs.

I meet Tracey on the phone for a Facebook date. We play the never ending movie quiz.

I spend a while looking through the books another time for our trip to NYC! We leave on Friday!

I started making plans (probably for a skirt) for this awesome fabric that Tracey rescued from a thrift shop (it used to be curtains) and gave to me for Christmas.

I start cooking some dinner. Yes, I really did start cooking around 4:00 so that we could eat dinner together before Johnpaul left early for work. We ate this mix of tomatoes, spinach, corn, garlic, etc with pasta, mashed potatoes and pineapple.

We are enjoying the dinner and hanging out together for the little time before JP goes to work.

6:00

I start making some treats (brownies with applesauce instead of oil) for when my friend, Michelle Morrison, comes over to visit tonight.

7:00

Michelle comes over to my house and we spend some time catching up and talking about our wonderful Winter Breaks.

8:00

We finish the evening by watching some of our favorite shows together, Psych (one of her favorites that she is introducing to me) and Arrested Development (a shared favorite.) Funny stuff.
